Tam Tam Award

Yay! WORLDSHAKER has been out a year in France, and it’s just picked up a very important award – THE most important award for YA fiction, according to the Allen & Unwin agent in Paris. The Tam Tam award is voted on by a jury of young readers, and they picked Worldshaker! Formidable!

Congratulations Richard!! I was disappointed when “Worldshaker” didn’t cause much of a ripple in Australia’s Aurealis Awards last year. This makes me feel better 😀

Awards are unpredictable. I guess. I was disappointed Worldshaker didn’t make the Aurealis shortlist, only because I was sure it was the best novel I’ve ever written – or was, before Liberator. But all sorts of factors influence awards, you just have to be lucky. I got lucky with the Tim Tam – whoops, I mean Tam Tam.
